An inclusive, queer and fetish night out with a focus on music plus designated safe spaces for sex.
Crossbreed was founded in 2019 by DJ/producer Kiwi, tired of bad music at kink parties and the dichotomy between clubbing and fetish scenes in London. Crossbreed's manifesto is abundantly clear that liberation will come from collaboration and co-creating a space where stigmas, prejudice and bigotry are absent. We'll see that can be tougher than expected.
Do you miss Berlin? Does rave music gives you the chills? Do gender fluidity and alternative sexualities are something you're comfortable with or curious about? Then Crossbreed is the right place for you. If you're not willing to make an extra-extra effort on a night out, if queer or fetish subcultures are a no-go, then no need to read further. You'll need to step out of your comfort zone and engage with guests to enjoy it.
Nah, no membership, you just need to buy a ticket and respect the dress code to get in (a few socials are entirely free though).
Ranging from 'holographic nipple covers' to 'jock straps' via 50 shades of mesh. Think: fetwear, PVC, leather, jewelry, drag, boots, color, latex, naked skin, bondage, nylon, sportswear, metal, and lace. But mostly they just like non-normative expression. Rule of thumb is: if not everyone turns their head in shock seeing you in the tube, you probably won't get in. Warning, strictly NO FANCY DRESS à la Killing Kittens. Mostly electronic music (on a very large spectrum). They have Spotify Dancefloor and Playroom playlists if you need a sneak peek.
Although they have had a party centered around queer people of color, most of their events are very white. Performative diversity is always better than no diversity at allI but we're not there yet. t's very much so queer-friendly, body positive though. They also try to accomodate people with disabilities when they can.
Between 10 and 20 quids, depending on the tiering (hello early birds!). As mentioned above, their socials are usually free. Their ticket booth lives on Resident Advisor.
In London, Klub Verboten (Torture Garden might be too mainstream to be compared to). In Berlin, probably the Berghain.
With a great DJ lineup and an inclusive approach to fetish clubbing, Crossbreed is the rising sex-positive event open to all genders and sexualities. Joining the ranks of remarkably well-organized parties in London like Klub Verboten, their events moodily revives the vibe (and style) of Berlin's coolest night outs.
